Blackburn Chemicals specialises in foam control technology, producing an extensive range of products under its Dispelair™ brand.

With more than 200 Dispelair™ Foam Control Agents in active production, its products are used across a diverse range of industries including construction, paints, paper and pulp, textiles, recycling, oil production, wastewater treatment, adhesives and food-related processing.

The company produces more than 40,000 tonnes each year and supplies customers around the world.

Research and development plays an important part in the business. Blackburn Chemicals continually works with new formulations and raw materials, while its technical team works closely with customers to develop tailor-made solutions for individual applications and requirements.

Blackburn Chemicals was founded in 1972 by George Lamb and has grown considerably during more than five decades in business.

Family has played an important role throughout the company's development, with all six of George's children helping to establish and grow the business.

In 1997, George's youngest son Steven became Managing Director and oversaw a significant period of expansion during the following 20 years.

John Covill, who originally joined Blackburn Chemicals as a development chemist after graduating from Newcastle University in 1984, became Managing Director in 2016 after holding a number of senior roles within the company.

The family connection continues today, with three of George Lamb's grandchildren holding positions within the business.

More than 50 years of experience has helped Blackburn Chemicals develop from a Lancashire family business into an internationally recognised specialist manufacturer.
